Jessica Martinez

Hi! I’m Jessica Martinez, and I’m lucky enough to be part of the Ocean Studies family for 13 years—eight of those in administration. I currently serve as Assistant Principal, where no two days are ever the same (and that’s exactly how I like it!).

I earned my degree from Arizona State University before trading the desert for island life in the Florida Keys. After a career in tourism—including an unforgettable two-year adventure living in Costa Rica—I found my true passion in education. I went on to earn my Master’s in Educational Leadership and have loved every minute of supporting our students, teachers, families, and school community.

What I love most about Ocean Studies is the spirit of curiosity, adventure, and environmental stewardship that makes our school so special. I get to work with students, support teachers, plan school events, build community partnerships, and dream up new ideas—and I truly couldn’t imagine doing anything else.

When I’m not at school, I’m usually with my husband, John, and our son, Zane, an Ocean Studies graduate - who is now off to college! I love cooking, outdoor yoga, exploring the Keys, and spending time with family and friends. I’m grateful every day to be part of a school that helps kids become curious, confident, compassionate humans—and future guardians of our waters!
