About

Stacey Batts

Hi! I am Stacey Batts and this is my second year teaching in the Dolphins class (1st and 2nd grade) at Ocean Studies Charter School.

I attended Arkansas State University where I earned a Bachelors of Science in Early Childhood Education. I started my teaching journey in Arkansas where I was a 2nd grade math interventionist. Then moved on to teaching Kindergarten for 9 years. After 10 years of teaching at the same school, I was ready for a new challenge in my teaching career. When I found OSCS and learned about the educational philosophies they value (hands-on learning, marine- science based, weekly field lab experiences, and co-teaching),I knew that was where I wanted to be. So my husband, our dog, Rocky and myself moved from Arkansas to the Florida Keys. Within the past year of teaching, I have continued my educational learning by earning my Reading Endorsement and am currently working towards my ESOL Certification. I am proud to be a member of our school Everglades Committee where we teach students and the community about the importance of The Everglades!

My favorite teaching experiences are when students gain confidence in themselves and learn new skills to help them succeed beyond their school years. The best part of my day is witnessing all of the students' smiles and the joy they have to be at school! I am amazed daily at the passion and drive that our OSCS students have for learning and helping the environment for the future of our planet. They may have even taught this new Florida Keys teacher a thing or two! :)
